A gorgeous glacial kettle pond with a sandy swimming beach. The 1.7-mile loop trail around the pond is mostly flat and stroller-manageable. Parking is $8/vehicle; the beach can hit capacity on hot summer days so arrive before 9am or after 3pm. Thoreau’s cabin replica is right at the parking lot and makes for a quick, memorable stop even with restless toddlers.
