A 2,000-year-old Roman aqueduct — one of the most jaw-dropping ancient monuments in Europe — and the river below it is a brilliant family bonus. From June to September kids can wade and swim in the shallow Gardon River right beneath the arches. The on-site Ludo kids’ museum (included with entry) is a hands-on play space designed for under-12s. Arrive by 9am to avoid summer gridlock.
