Pigeon Island is connected to the main island by a causeway and packs an impressive amount into one visit: two small beaches, ruins of a British fort, a small museum inside the old barracks, and sweeping hilltop views of the Caribbean. Admission is roughly $10 USD per adult and $5 USD per child through the St. Lucia National Trust; children under 5 are typically free. The hike up to Fort Rodney takes about 20-30 minutes on a rocky path and is suitable for kids 6 and up with good walking shoes — flip flops are not recommended for the upper trail. The lower grounds and beach areas are stroller-accessible and younger kids can easily spend an hour playing in the calm shallow water at the first beach near the entrance. Arrive before 10am to beat both the heat and cruise ship tour groups that arrive mid-morning; open daily 9am to 5pm.
