Palolem is widely considered the most family-friendly beach in Goa due to its sheltered crescent shape and calm shallow water that stays gentle even for toddlers and early swimmers. Entry to the beach is free, though umbrellas and sun loungers rent for approximately 200-400 INR (roughly $2.50-5 USD) per day from shack operators. Best visited November through February when seas are calm and skies are clear; avoid entirely June through September during monsoon season as strong currents and rough surf make the water dangerous and most shacks close. Arrive before 9am on weekends to secure shaded spots near the treeline as the beach fills quickly. Strollers are manageable on firm packed sand near the waterline but struggle in dry loose sand closer to the shack strip.
