The UNESCO World Heritage complex at Old Goa has the Basilica of Bom Jesus and the Se Cathedral within easy walking distance on flat well-maintained grounds that are stroller-friendly. Entry to the grounds and most churches is completely free; the Basilica interior contains the preserved remains of St. Francis Xavier, which older kids find genuinely interesting from a historical perspective — younger children lose interest quickly so keep visits under 45 minutes for toddlers. Open daily approximately 9am to 6pm; the site is busiest on Sunday mornings and during Catholic feast days in December when the complex fills with pilgrims. Light clothing covering shoulders and knees is expected inside the churches so pack a light scarf or layer. Visit in the early morning for cooler temperatures; midday heat in March-May can make the open grounds uncomfortable for young children.
