Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 6-12, with kids under 6 free, making this one of the best value educational stops on the Big Island. The living history farm is a restored 1920s Japanese coffee farm and the guided tour lasts about an hour with hands-on activities like picking and pulping coffee cherries when in season. Kids who like learning how things are made will be completely engaged, while the short walking trail through the coffee trees provides nice shade and fresh air. The farm is run by the National Park Service so the interpretation is excellent and staff are very kid-friendly. Tours run Tuesday through Saturday with the first tour typically at 10am, so call ahead to confirm the schedule.
