The 232km drive between Lake Louise and Jasper is one of the most spectacular roads on Earth — budget a full day with stops and fuel up in Lake Louise as there are very few services en route. Peyto Lake viewpoint and Athabasca Falls are the two essential stops with kids; both have paved parking and short walking paths. Wildlife sightings (bears, elk, bighorn sheep) are common — keep cameras ready and driving speeds low. A valid Parks Canada pass is required; the Icefields Centre has a cafe and clean restrooms roughly at the halfway point.
