Permanent galleries are completely free; only special exhibitions carry an admission fee, typically HKD 10-20 for children. Open Wednesday-Monday 10am-6pm; closed Tuesdays so plan accordingly. The full story of Hong Kong exhibit is immersive and walks through natural history all the way to the 1997 handover in a way that older kids genuinely engage with. The life-size dioramas of old Hong Kong streets are a big hit and kids love walking through the recreated tram and market stalls. Strollers are fully accommodated with wide pathways and elevators throughout; allow at least two hours for the permanent collection.
