Hamilton Pool is a stunning collapsed grotto with a 50-foot waterfall and jade-green swimming hole about 30 minutes west of Austin — reservations are mandatory and must be booked online through Travis County Parks. Day-use fees are $15 per vehicle plus a $5 swimming fee per person when water quality allows swimming; check conditions before going as closures are common in summer. The trail from parking to the pool is about 0.25 miles of moderately uneven terrain — strollers will not make it and baby carriers are a better call for little ones. Best for kids 6 and up who can handle some uneven footing; the waterfall area is shaded and cool even when the pool is closed. Arrive at your reserved entry time as no early entry is permitted and the parking lot fills fast.
