Confluence Park sits at the junction of Cherry Creek and the South Platte River in the heart of Denver and is completely free to access year-round. The river is shallow and calm in summer making it a popular wading spot for kids — bring water shoes and a change of clothes as getting wet is inevitable and half the fun. A paved multi-use trail runs along both sides of the river and is fully stroller-friendly, connecting to miles of Denver’s greenway network if you want to extend the walk. Street parking on 15th Street fills up on warm weekend afternoons; the REI Denver Flagship store is directly adjacent and has clean restrooms accessible to the public. Best visited May through September when water levels are safe for wading; avoid after heavy rain as current strength increases significantly.
