The beach and rainforest boardwalks are free; the Daintree River ferry crossing costs ~AUD $28/vehicle return. One of the only places on Earth where two UNESCO World Heritage Sites – reef and rainforest – meet. Stingers are seasonal (Oct-May) so ocean swimming requires a stinger suit; the creek mouth at Myall Beach is a safer swim spot. Allow a full day from Cairns (about 2.5 hours each way) and pack a full picnic as food options are very limited.
