Boulders Beach is home to a thriving colony of African penguins and is one of the most iconic family experiences in Cape Town. Entry is managed by SANParks and costs approximately R230 for adults and R115 for children (roughly USD $12 and $6); under 2s are free. The boardwalk path is paved and stroller-accessible, winding directly over the beach where penguins nest just meters away. Arrive before 9am to beat tour groups and get the best photos with calm, curious birds. Bring sunscreen and a hat as shade on the boardwalk is limited; the beach itself is not ideal for swimming due to penguin activity.
