Entry is $8 per vehicle and gets your whole family access to 4 miles of beach, shaded nature trails through maritime hammock, a boat launch, and a campground. The nature trails are flat, mostly shaded, and easy enough for kids as young as 3 — the canopy of live oaks keeps it noticeably cooler than open beach areas. Wildlife sightings of armadillos, gopher tortoises, and wading birds are common and give kids something to hunt for on the trail. The beach side is less crowded than St. Augustine Beach proper and has a gentler, more natural vibe. Bring a wagon or all-terrain stroller as the beach sand is soft and harder to push through than the packed surf line.
